Hi! I'm Karolina, art historian researching the material culture and female agency at the Swedish royal court in the 18th-century. 

Research

I am currently pursuing my PhD degree at Uppsala University. Leading my own project ''Maktens rum'', where I explore the intersections of material culture, architecture and power during the long 18th-century. My work traces the collections and interiors of princesses and queens consort, asking:

How identity, status and gendered agency manifested in objects, interiors and architecture.

Teaching

Alongside my research, I lecture on 18th-century Swedish art and material culture, supervise theses and represent doctoral candidates in faculty committees.

Earlier lives

Similarly to a cat, I have had many professional lives:

• –Educator and exhibition production at the Royal Court
• –Curatorial assistant at a gallery
• –Object handling at an auction house
• –Half a year interning at the Embassy of Sweden in Washington D.C., working with cultural diplomacy
