Hi! I'm Karolina, researcher and art historian with a focus on material culture, female agency and the Swedish royal court

I am currently pursuing my PhD-degree at Uppsala University. Leading my own project ''Maktens rum'', where I explore the intersections of material culture, architecture and power during the long 18th-century. My work traces the collections and interiors of princesses and queens consort, asking how objects, interiors and architecture shaped identity, status and gendered agency.

Alongside my research, I lecture on 18th-century Swedish art and material-culture theory, supervise theses and represent doctoral students in faculty committees. 

Similarly to a cat, I have had many professional lives. Having previously worked as an educator and within exhibition production at the Royal Court; being a curatorial assistant at a gallery; object handling at an auction house. Straying from this path, just as cats do, I also spent half a year  interning at the Embassy of Sweden in Washington D.C., working with cultural diplomacy. A somewhat more unexpected experience, one might say.
